SUPERFØKK

«Superføkk!»
FYSISK FORMAT, FY211LP

Superføkk (Super shit in Norwegian) is a new Norwegian, Bergen-based quartet that «shoots off in inexplicable directions». The quartet features sax and electronics player August Ramstad, guitarist and synth player Ole-Hellik Lobben-Seth, bassist Eik Stavem, and drummer Victor Skullerud, and recorded its self-titled debut album at Jørgen Træen’s Duper Studio in Bergen in November 2025.

The quartet was founded in a small, dark studio at Bergen Kjøtt cultural center in the fall of 2024, where it performed for the first time in November 2024. Since then, it has built a solid repertoire, played numerous concerts at the city’s various stages, and won the Wild Wild Vest Prize at the 2025 edition of the local Eggstock Festival for young artists,

Superføkk declares that its mission is «to break down established genre conventions and create a sound that is distinctly their own», with an eclectic, raw, and dense mix of free jazz, free improvisations, noise, kraut rock, electronica, and no-wave, or as the quartet calls it: Frijazzpunkelektronikacrossmultiplypopimpact.

But the three pieces of Superføkk’s debut album incorporate seminal influences from the local quartet Møster! mixed with James Chance’s no-wave, the experimental math-rock of Black Midi with echoes of the defunct The Thing, and even John Zorn’s Naked City, expressed with boundless, cathartic and surprisingly danceable energy. «Piggeple» perfects this volatile recipe.

It sounds urgent, intense, uplifting, and makes you move. Free, unhinged and hard-boiled danceable music for the masses.
