WITNESS WOUNDS

«Witness Wounds»
ARSENIC SOLARIS, AS-035

Witness Wounds is the explosive collaboration between the experimental noise duo Tomorrow I Feel Wrong of Austrian drummer-vocalist-guitarist Sarah Trawöger and German vocalist-percussionist-guitarist-flautist Kristin Gerwien, and the Switzerland-based punk-jazz duo P/O Massacre of sax player-trumpeter-electronics player Anton Ponomarev and guitarist-electronics player-drummer Anton Obrazeena. The debut, self-titled album of Witness Wounds offers four raw, intense, dense, and quite merciless, layered sonic collisions that blur the lines between abstract noise, free improvisation, drone, and experimental music.

Tomorrow I Feel Wrong and P/O Massacre first met in 2021 at XCITING Festival in Stuttgart. In early 2022, they gathered for a three-week residency at Theatre Neben dem Turm in Marburg, Germany. The album was recorded there in January 2023. The cover artwork was designed by Moritz Junkermann, one of XCITING Festival’s curators.

The first piece, «The Sea», captures Witness Wounds in its most brutal, noisy, and explosive form, drowning – literally – in deep oceans of noise. But the following pieces are more open to fearless sonic experimentation and collective improvisation, while maintaining their high-voltage levels of intensity. The third piece, «The Witness», heads into rough and tortured, distorted, drone-like territories, mixed with some manic beats. The last piece, the 33-minute «Music for Mouse», surprises with its lyrical, almost fragile, reserved vibe.
