» Stop prohibition » or » Stop for Bud » is a small experimental film, which portrays the American jazz pianist Bud Powell. In the movie included a concert recording from Montmartre, where Powell’s fingers and face are studied in a variety of settings while playing, but without synchronous sound. On the soundtrack, we hear partly Bud Powell playing and the voice over by Dexter Gordon at the start and end a few stories about Powell and his impact on jazz. Bud Powell was schizophrenic and at times mentally unstable . Especially in the last years of his life swung the musical level much. He died in 1966, relatively shortly after the filming of this movie.
