Well-known Italian jazz writer Luca Vitali has been an almost permanent presence at Norwegian jazz festivals the last decade. As a recognized world expert on Norwegian jazz he has recently written a book on the evolution of this jazz scene after 1965. He quite correctly opens up with the visit og George Russell in this period as the watershed event.
The book «Il Suono del Nord», the sound of the North, was published this spring by Italian Auditorium Edizioni. Though in Italian, it is a recommended reading.
Later we will come back with a more complete review.
Here we want to point to today’s publication by Music Norway, the Norwegian music export and promotion agency.
Here (click this link), Luca Vitali outlines why it was important to write a book on this topic.
