sorry babe, I have weird legs is the debut EP from the Italian, Oslo-based vocalist-multi-instrumentalist Andrea S Giordano and French, Paris-based tubist-vocalist Fanny Meteier. They met during the residency of FRANTX 4tet in Paris and immediately felt the symbiosis between their sonic vision and artistic trajectories. The EP was recorded in Paris in October 2023.

Giordano and Meteier describe their work as «trying to thwart the laws of the universe, exploring an inner world, creating an imaginary garden, the dreamlike and the strange, sometimes spatialized, vividly embodied, suggested or dressed with extraterrestrial electronics, revealing the elements that surround us in a new light». The EP offers 16 miniatures, some lasting only a few seconds, all delivered in an enigmatic lingo and all grounded in commanding technique and a reductionist improvisation aesthetic, but with a strong sense of composition.

Giordano has developed her language in the Piedmontese dialect while Meteier explores the timbre of her instrument through extended techniques. Together they construct compound sounds as building blocks and search for mysterious sounds that often appear as something never heard. The ethereal breaths, percussive and noisy vocalizations merge, blending and leaking into each other, or drift apart for a while, but they are also delivered with eccentric humor. These enchanting and expressive miniatures suggest imaginative voices of «birds, water, bubbles, snakes and clouds and frogs droplets and tiny storms… voices, coming from the bowels or the heavens, interlaced into a single hyperinstrument».

These babes may have weird legs, but they are going to dance and mess with your brain.
