Art Ensemble of Chicago Canceled Its Concert in Turkey Because of the War

The Turkish Military Invasion of Siria on the Basis of the AEC’s Decision

“Following the military invasion of northern Syria and the armed aggression of the Kurdish people by the Turkish Army, it is not possible to stand by and watch the act of war in a region where civilians are bombed and their cities destroyed” This is the beginning of an international appeal asking for a permanent cease-fire and for the withdrawal by Turkish army afrom north of Syria.
After a deep evaluation on what is going on in Syria, Art Ensemble of Chicago agreed with those requests and taking the situation very seriously, got its own decision: to cancel the concert they were suppose to play in Istambul on last Friday, October 18th, during The Akbank Sanat Festival.

An historic decision taken by one of the most important band on the international jazz scene. That decision was supported by a long clap by the audience of Vilnius Jazz Festival, when the presenter, introducing the band for the concert hold few days ago, said that they did cancel their concert in Istambul because of the war.
